General Information
The Social Club has its own fully-licensed Bar, Lounge Bar, Food Corner, Games Room and Function Hall.
Whether it’s a quiet drink after a hard day’s work or simply quenching your thirst after a gruelling work-out in the Fitness Suite – the Bar is the perfect place to relax with your friends, work colleagues and team mates. Guests may be signed in by Members for a nominal fee. Non-Member students producing a current NUS Card can a gain entry to the Bar for only 50p.

The Bar Complex and Catering Area are supervised by the Bar Manager Kate Gordon, who will be pleased to advise you about the many excellent Bar/Lounge and Function Room facilities we can offer.

From the Bar you can savour the many house and guest beers we have on tap, with a wide range of premium lagers, wines and spirits. Every week night is CHEAP NIGHT with great offers on bottles! On two Friday evenings every month our resident DJ presents an up-beat DISCO and if you feel you are the next X-Factor contestant, then sing your heart out at our ever-popular KARAOKE which kicks in later.

The Food Corner is a favourite with Members and guests, especially at lunchtimes, serving a wide variety of freshly prepared hot and cold dishes, salads and filled rolls, etc. Whatever your special occasion catering requirements are, please contact the Bar Manager for full details of our hot and cold buffets and delicious range of menus (including vegetarian options) to suit your taste and more importantly your budget!

On Wednesday evenings we host our ever-popular Quiz Nite at 8pm, with a Head-to-Head Jackpot every week.

On Thursday evenings, from 5.00pm until 9.30pm, we have our special Curry Night, with a selection of three delicious curries - including a vegetarian option - plus chutneys and poppadums for just £4.50 - a tasty treat not to be missed!

Adjoining the Bar is our Games Room, equipped with two POOL TABLES, DARTS and several GAMING/SKILLS MACHINES. You can even PLAY POOL FOR FREE on Monday nights! The Club has its own Pool Team and on Sunday nights one table is reserved for local Pool League matches.

Major sporting events are shown on our large screen TVs in the Bar & Lounge areas.

Screenings of popular sporting events e.g. the Football World Cup, International Rugby, etc., are always well attended and donations on the door go towards supporting our Children’s Charity Fund, check out our Monthly Special Events page.

During the (hot?) summer months we hold barbeques on the patio outside the Bar. The barbeque can also be booked exclusively for private parties and theme nights, to include the services of our resident chef. Special buffet menus are available to suit all budgets and tastes, please contact the Bar Manager or one of the Bar staff for more details.

Functions & Live Entertainment
Throughout the year, the Club organises many functions and live entertainment – some even organised by the members themselves – the larger events take place in the Function Hall where we can accommodate up to 250 people, for Wedding Receptions, Engagement and Birthday Parties, and Ceilidhs, etc., etc. Smaller events, children's parties, meetings, workshops, etc. can be held in our President's Room. The Lounge Bar and Function Hall can be booked by contacting the Assistant Recreation Manager via the Main Office Tel: (029) 2074 2927 or e-mail: Sports.Sports&SocialClub@CardiffandVale.wales.nhs.uk. The Bar/Dance licence is normally available until midnight (or later under special circumstances). The services of our Resident DJ can also be booked at the same time.
